Moulton College in Northamptonshire was awarded Learning and Skills Beacon status by the DfES at an Awards Ceremony held in Central London on the 12th October 2004. Dr Kim Howells MP, Minister of State for Lifelong Learning, Further and Higher Education presented Moulton, along with 19 other providers, with the prestigious award. Learning and Skills Beacon status recognises excellent institutions that deliver high quality teaching and learning and are well led and managed and to share that good practice with others. Dr Kim Howells said: "The 20 organisations awarded Learning and Skills Beacon status today have already made an outstanding contribution to the Learning and Skills Sector. The Award of Beacon status will enable them to share this good practice, which encourages and promotes excellence and accelerates the rate of improvement across the whole sector. I congratulate them on their success". Val Carpenter Executive Director of Northamptonshire Learning and Skills Council commented "I am delighted that Moulton College have been awarded Learning and Skills Beacon status. Their commitment to excellence in the delivery of teaching and learning make them ideal role models for the sector. The Award of Learning and Skills Beacon status will enable them to share their expertise and good practice and champion the raising of standards within the sector".
