Interior Design CoursesResourcesInterior Design courses are delivered within the Furniture and Design subject area . Studio and workshop facilities include resources for 3D model making, a CAD suite, with the capability for computer aided manufacture using a CNC router. The furniture workshops have a range of machinery typically found in industry. The model making workshop houses a range of small machines to allow students to work in three dimensions during the development stage of their projects. These include a vacuum former and a laser cutter, which can be used for cutting plastic, card, thin timber and manufactured board, as well as engraving a variety of materials. Anything that can be drawn or scanned into a computer can be cut or engraved and the application for interior design students is wide. The computer suite has industry standard computers with a range of design software packages, enabling students to both design and present their work in a professional manner. Links with IndustryInterior Design staff at Moulton have strong links with a number of prestigious design companies and through these contacts, opportunities are provided for students to be involved in projects set by industry, which enhance the students’ understanding of the design world and of commercial realities. Students are encouraged to visit galleries, design museums, trade fairs and local historic houses; and trips are organised to help develop their understanding of the context of interior design. Students enter national and international competitions, where they have achieved notable success in recent years.
