Course Details
BTEC National Diploma in Sport Development, Coaching & FitnessCourse ContentThis programme is designed to appeal to learners who wish to build on their National Award in Sport (Development, Coaching and Fitness) studies and develop their understanding of the developmental aspects of sport such as widening participation and accessibility and covers key areas such as working with children, nutrition and exercise, health and lifestyle. A range of study methods is used including lectures, visits, tutorials, seminars, and practical sessions. Students are encouraged to relate theory to practice at all stages. Students build on their work experience in year one by carrying out a work placement of 10 days duration at an approved sports facility or business/school. Continuous assessment includes assignments, written and practical tests and work experience. Career OpportunitiesStudents may progress to the Foundation Degree in Performance and Coaching. Alternatively they may seek employment within the sports industry or professional sport.
