CPCS / LANTRA 360 Degree Mini Excavator Course

3 - 10 tonnes

Aim of the course

To provide training and assessment in the safe and efficient operation of tracked excavators (360°) 3 - 10 tonnes.

This course meets the statutory requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, and other relevant statutory provisions and Approved Codes of Practice.

Course content

To develop both skills and knowledge associated with this type of machine, the following topics will be covered:

Theory:

• Statutory Requirements
• Site Safety Awareness
• Operating Safety Code
• Road & Site Travelling Procedures
• Multiple Choice Theory Test

Practical:

• Statutory Requirements
• Introduction to the Machine
• Control Familiarisation
• Pre-Start Checks & Basic Maintenance Procedures
• Basic Driving Procedures & Practice
• Use of Hydraulic Controls
• Parking at End of Shift Procedures/ Practice
• Road & Site Travelling Procedures/Practice
• Excavating & Digging Procedures/Practice
• Trenching Procedures/Practice
• Backfilling Procedures/Practice
• Site Levelling & Ground Consolidation Procedures/Practice
• Practical Skills Tests

Course requirements

Candidates will need to bring with them:

• Notebook & pen
• Safety boots and warm practical clothing
• A packed lunch

General notes - college facilities

Moulton College has excellent modern facilities including a Learning Resources Centre, Library, IT Suite and learning support is available if required. Hot & cold meals are available from the Dining Room on the Main campus and snacks are available from the Coffee Shop at the Holcot campus, although for convenience it is recommended that a packed lunch be brought along.
