Areas of Teaching Expertise
Applied exercise physiology, sports nutrition and related ergogenic aids, strength and conditioning and research methods.
Research Interests and Current Research
Mark’s research interests focus mainly on the physiology of intermittent exercise and interventions to promote improvements in performance in team-sports athletes. As a result of this research, Mark has worked with a range of professional rugby and football teams, including: the Welsh National Rugby Union Squad and as a sports scientist with Swansea City Association Football Club. Mark has a PhD in exercise physiology that focused on investigating the development and use of a new football match simulation that incorporated technical actions throughout simulated exercise and he has also published peer-reviewed journals relating to the fields of sports nutrition and supplementation, applied strength and conditioning and the physiology of team sports.
