Areas of Teaching Expertise

Sports and Exercise physiology,
Environmental physiology and effects of cooling modalities.

Research Interests and Current Research

1) Environmental physiology and the effects of different cooling modalities

2) Ice vests and cooling collars used during exercise.

Past research has illustrated cooling to have beneficial effects prior to exercise, however attention is now being focused on cooling modalities used during exercise and also the efficiency of different cooling strategies.

Selected Recent Publications

Publication in Journal of Applied Physiology (JAP) and Journal of Athletic Training (JAT) to follow. Not yet published.

1) A comparison of two commercially available practical cooling interventions on cycling capacity in the heat.

2) The effects of torso cooling wearing an ice vest during cycling capacity exercise in a heat stress environment.
