Room Allocations and How To Book

We are currently guaranteeing to offer a room to all students who apply for accommodation for 2018/19.

If you would prefer to have accommodation at Moulton College rather than travel in, why not come and stay with us?

How to Book – New Students

After you have applied for a course at Moulton College you will be invited to attend an interview. At this interview you will be asked if you would like to apply for a residential place. If you express an interest in living in residence you will be sent a residential application form with your course offer.

You will need to return the application form to Student Services with £150 non-refundable deposit (this will become a damage deposit for the duration of your stay). The deposit can be paid through the epay system, by cheque (made payable to Moulton College) or over the telephone (01604 491131). Please do not make a payment until you have completed the residential application form.

The first round of allocations is carried out in May and we are currently able to offer a room to all students who apply for accommodation, even those who live locally. After the initial round of allocations in May, further allocations are made on a first come, first served basis, subject to availability.

You may indicate your preferred type of accommodation but the College cannot guarantee that this type of accommodation will be available and reserves the right to offer an alternative type when necessary. The College also reserves the right to reject an application. Requests for changes to accommodation arrangements may be considered and agreed, subject to the approval of the Student Support Manager and the availability of suitable rooms.

If we were to receive a higher than usual number of residential applications then, to ensure a fair process, we would allocate rooms in accordance with the following priority groups, rather than purely on a first come first served basis. Groups which are given priority include (in no particular order):
  • Students under the age of 18
  • All full-time HE students
  • Students whereby travel on a daily basis by public or Moulton College transport is not available or is difficult
  • Students who are enrolled on courses which require regular attendance at early morning and weekend commercial experience on College enterprises
  • International students
  • Students with physical disabilities
  • Students with a DIY Livery at the College

We aim to provide students with accommodation for each year of their course. Please note that all second and third year students must apply for accommodation each year and should not assume that they will automatically be allocated a room for each year of their course.

Students who accept the offer of a place on full-time courses at the College can apply for a place in the residences, indicating their preferred type of accommodation. The College cannot guarantee that this type of accommodation will be available and reserves the right to offer an alternative type when necessary. The College also reserves the right to reject an application. Requests for changes to accommodation arrangements may be considered and agreed, subject to the approval of the Student Support Manager and the availability of suitable rooms.

After the initial round of allocations in May, further allocations are made on a first come, first served basis, subject to availability.
