Extended Diploma Level 3 Agriculture
Eric, a farmer’s son from Lincolnshire completed the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Agriculture in July 2011. Eric worked hard throughout the year over a number of modules to achieve his distinction grade (D). Eric stated that the different modules and subjects he studied helped him to gain a better knowledge of all agricultural aspects and particularly the practical elements of the course helped him to learn new skills with both livestock and machinery which suited his style of learning.
Alongside the Subsidiary Diploma, Eric was able to complete a number of added qualifications throughout the year. These included Teleporter Handling, Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1 and PA2), Manual Handling and First Aid. Eric commented that “these qualifications were really useful and helped me to gain employment for the summer on a 3,600 ha arable farm on the border of Leicestershire and Lincolnshire”. Eric also enjoyed being a resident student at Moulton College as this enabled him to make new friends from different walks of life.
Eric has returned to Moulton this September (2011) to undertake the Extended Diploma in agriculture with the aim of achieving a Distinction* Distinction* Distinction* (D*D*D*) grade overall which will aid him in his quest to gain entry onto a higher education course to study Agriculture in September 2012. Eric’s ambition is to become a Farm Manager and we are sure that Eric will achieve his goal if he keeps up the high standards he has set himself.
