A spell of 25 years out of education was Hameed’s preparation for starting on his HNC at Moulton in 2008, but his entrepreneurial zeal and determination to succeed meant that he soon took to his studies with ease.
After completing his HNC he then achieved a Distinction profile in the Foundation Degree and moved on to Moulton’s BSc programme, which he graduated from with first class honours in 2012.
On top of his academic studies, Hameed also became a student representative, represented the college at the University of Northampton’s Student Experience Committee and successfully graduated from the Common Purpose ‘Front runner’ leadership programme.
As if that wasn’t enough, while studying for his FdSc he also set up his own green construction company, Zack Alexander Developments Ltd, has since launched another company that manufactures and distributes vegan and halal personal care products, and, more recently, set up an educational consultancy in Bangladesh and a charity for disabled entrepreneurs.
“I had to overcome severe learning difficulties when I returned to study at Moulton, but was able to succeed thanks to the help provided by the college’s support staff. I’ve always been very driven and was determined to put what I learnt at college to good use and now, with my charity, I hope to help others overcome their disabilities and see them succeed with their dreams,” Hameed revealed.
