David Barrick is 23 years old and on the second year of the Foundation degree in Sports Therapy at Moulton College. He enrolled onto the course because he had become increasingly frustrated by a nine month foot and ankle injury and wanted to learn more about injuries and their treatment.
"I looked for vocational courses in sports massage but the course at Moulton seemed to cover more of what I wanted to learn. The parts of the course that have interested me most are the sports injury modules where we have learnt about the joints and common injuries to those joints, how to test for these injuries and finally the prevention of the injuries. Another part of the course I have found really interesting is the sports massage module, which involves a lot of hand-on work." The module included sports massage techniques and their applications and so practicing these techniques on other students. David hopes to top his degree up to a BSc in his third year at the college and would like to work in the therapy or rehabilitation industry in the future.
