A Batty New Zealand Odyssey!

Higher Education BSc Land Management student George Rockell evidently likes a challenge! Fresh from the terrific news that he had been awarded a generous £1000 travel bursary by The University of Northampton’s Chancellors fund, George will be flying to New Zealand to spend an unusual Christmas searching for the elusive long tailed bat – a secretive denizen of the silent forests of New Zealand in a rugged landscape associated with the Lord of the Rings movies! Specifically, George will be working with specialist staff from the Department of Conservation on an ecological study that will aim to determine the habitat preferences of long-tailed bats in forest habitats of the remote Pikiariki Ecological Area in the North Island. His work follows on from a project that was carried out a few years ago by another Moulton College based student that was later published in a scholarly journal.

Why not follow in George’s footsteps and come along to our HE open day on Saturday 29th November – you never know where out exciting courses may take you!
