First year golf academy student Tom Forster won the Moulton College Junior Open (Wednesday 29th October) on count back. Tied with Jason McGuiness on a score of 73, Tom’s back nine proved to be superior and the best score of the day, winning the boy’s competition and the title overall. Bethany Healy was the top female player and best Net score of the day and last year’s girls winner Ellie Darnell second.
Tom’s performance also meant that he won the “Northamptonshire Golf Junior Order of Merit Grand Final,” as he played in the qualifying series throughout the summer at various clubs across the County with his performance today proving to be the winning round. Fergus Robinson won the Net competition. In the girls competition Ellie Darnell took the title with 12 year old Hattie Billson winning the Nett.
This the 4th Annual Moulton Open Competition with previous winners including former Moulton Student and now Professional Golfer Lauren Taylor and Matthew Myers who won the 2013 title but was unable to retain his title this year. This is also the second year that Moulton has worked with the Northamptonshire Golf Partnership for the Order of Merit event along with co-sponsors Titlelist Footjoy who supported the prizes. Organiser Richard Lobb is already putting the wheels in motion to plan the event again for 2015.
