On Wednesday evening Moulton College’s planning application for a new UK Athletics standard Athletics Track was unanimously approved at a meeting of the Daventry District Council Planning Committee.
The selected site is at our Pitsford Centre and the development will consist of a new eight lane track and field athletics facility to meet UK Athletics Competition “Class A” Certification Standard. The athletics centre will include changing facilities, car parking and other infrastructure work required to service the facility. The design has been approved by the Northampton Borough Council who is acting as the client and have been working in consultation with the Rugby & Northampton Athletics Association (R&NAA).
The addition of the Athletics Track will further enhance the superb sports facilities already on offer at the College. We are delighted that we are able to immediately proceed with this exciting new venture which should be ‘ready for running’ in 2015. The track will not only benefit Moulton students but also the local community including the R&NAA and we all look forward to being able to see a Moulton College athletics student possibly representing the UK.
Moulton is introducing a new Athletics Academy which will offer young people the opportunity to study towards a Level 3 Diploma in Sports and Fitness alongside a range of practical sports activities. This will add to the extensive portfolio of Sports Academies which provide opportunities for well over 1,000 students.
