Tom Pursglove MP for Corby and East Northamptonshire and keen sportsman visited Moulton College today to meet Sports Academy students and share his passion for sport.
Tom, who has swam competitively and plays cricket for the Wellingborough Old Grammarians is passionate about sport commenting “It was fantastic to see the work that Moulton College is doing to support Northamptonshire’s young sporting talent. The facilities at the College are incredible and a real asset to the county. I was excited by the passion and commitment being shown by our young people as they work hard to improve their skills and realise their sporting ambitions and it was great to be able to wish the Women’s Basketball team good luck before their game”.
Principal Stephen Davies commented: “Moulton College offers young people from Northamptonshire and beyond world class facilities to train in. Our twelve Sports Academies which we run in partnership with major national sports bodies, such as England Golf, Northampton Saints Rugby team and Northampton Town Football Club, allow young people to develop their skills and gain qualifications that enable 94% to progress in to employment or further or higher education. We have 615 students studying sports related study programmes and are proud of the success they achieve in their chosen sports; a good number of our students go on to become professional sportsmen and women”.
In addition to the Sports Academies, Moulton College also offers a range of other sports courses including Personal Training and Sports Therapy. There are courses appropriate for those leaving school post GCSE’s as well as degrees and post graduate provision.
