Moulton College has successfully supported 135 of its students to complete the Reading Agency ‘Reading Ahead Challenge’. The challenge supports young people and adults by changing their perception of reading, opening up opportunities and building their confidence.
Moulton College Principal Stephen Davies presented all the students who completed the challenge with a certificate, goody bag and free book at a presentation ceremony this week.
Northamptonshire author Mark Robson opened the celebrations with an inspirational talk about the importance reading and the life changing experience that writing has opened up for him. He encouraged everyone to build on their Reading Ahead success and to continue reading as much and as often as possible. Its seems that many of the students will be doing just that, in her reading diary a student from our Higham Ferrers campus wrote ‘I now find the time to read every day and carry a book with me everywhere’.
Students, parents and teachers also attended the presentation ceremony. As well as certificates there were prizes for ‘best diary’ and ‘most enthusiastic reader’. The Learning Resources team also ran a creative writing competition with entries ranging from love stories to dystopian adventure.
Moulton College will achieve a Silver Award for its participation in the Challenge this year.
