“What did I do to deserve this?” asked a Higham resident, opening her front door just before Christmas.
It was a common reaction that day.
Staff and students at Moulton’s Higham Ferrers campus joined forces again with pupils from the Ferrers School to collect and distribute food and other goodies for local people in need. These made an amazing Christmas pressie for 135 Higham residents as well as local homelessness organisations and the Rushden food bank.
“Some of the recipients hardly ever see anyone and were moved to tears,” said Sonia Walker, centre administrator at Higham. “We had some amazing donations including luxuries and vouchers from local businesses.
“We’re hoping to expand the scheme further next year and we’re going to need an extra minibus!”
Well done to Hannah Cumberpatch, Sonia Walker, Gary Dennis, the plumbers, and all the staff and students at Moulton’s Higham site and The Ferrers School.
