Moulton Mixed Hockey team beat Bilborough 7 – 1 in the first round of the Mixed Knock Out Cup with Jack Pogson scoring four of the seven!
Despite being a female player down, the 10 player team soon began to take control of the game with Jack Pogson opened the scoring after an Ally Rose aerial ball. Rose scored the second following an excellent cross by Liv Mason. Captain Luke Bridger dominated the defence, leaving goalkeeper Alex Foreward a little redundant in the first half. Elliot Knight scored Moulton’s third and Alex Petitt scored when he was subbed on midway through the first half from a Christian Squire free hit.
Moulton went into the break 4 – 0 up following a confident performance. The second half was marred by an injury to Charlotte Maxfield and the team were down to nine players. However this did not deter the team. Bilborough did take advantage of the extra player and put pressure on the defence and scored. However, with seconds of conceding, Jack Pogson scored an alsmost identical goal to Bilborough at the other end, and the followed up with a second impressive strike to steal the win.
Bilborough did not give up and defenders Nadine Moll and Louise Tremlett were called in to action in the closing minutes of the game, however it was Moulton who finished on top with a flurry of penalty conrners which the were luck not to convert.
The team move into the next round to face Worcester 6th Form College to be played in December.
