Northamptonshire sporting stars, rising stars, coaches, volunteers, unsung heroes of sport and their families, friends and supporters came together with local dignitaries to celebrate a great year of sporting achievements in the county, at the Northamptonshire Sports Awards at the Kettering Conference Centre on Thursday 7th November.
Kettering golfer Charley Hull, Northants cricket coach David Ripley and Moulton Magpies Football Club were amongst the winners at the ceremony hosted by sports broadcaster Mike Sewell.
Chris Holmes Director of Northamptonshire Sport opened the evening and commented "Looking back on a fabulous year of sport, the Sports Awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our most talented sportsmen and women, young and old, as well as the invaluable contributions of the volunteers who are helping to create the Olympic Legacy in Northamptonshire".
Moulton College was the proud sponsor of the 2013 Northamptonshire Coach of the Year Award that went to Northants cricket coach David Ripley after a spectacular double-winning season. David received his award from Moulton College’s Sports Injury Centre Manager Lee Howarth who said “I’m delighted for David as he is someone I have known for several years since we set up our college cricket academy in partnership with Northants. He has had a wonderful year and is a worthy winner on a great evening of celebration for Northants sport.”
