Research Interests and Current Research
David has a background in the finance, project management and technical aspects of the industry and is hoping to start his PhD in the near future. David’s current areas of interest revolve around the implementation of BIM, having worked as a Chair for the North Wales BIM Hub from 2012 to 2015; he also has an interest in researching the processes and activities of various roles related to construction activities and how these will develop with the introduction of new technologies.
David achieved his MSc in construction project management from Napier University in Edinburgh in 2009 and his research topic revolved around Built Environment education and careers guidance.
Areas of Teaching Expertise
David has worked in Construction and the built environment since 2005 on a full time basis, having spent his earlier years working in as a QS and a Project manager, and also running a timber frame manufacturing business. His area of expertise relates to his background in Finance and Project Management, however with his activities over the past few years he will also deliver on most technical and design based modules. David is currently devising a new pathway for the department bringing his expertise in Finance and QS work to develop a BSc in Commercial management.
David has spoken at several conferences in the past 7 years, usually to do with education's impact on the construction sector, and often relating to his role with BIM.
