| There are new qualifications in Waste Operations. |
| There are National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) at levels 1 and 2. There are also new qualifications for Supervisors at level 3 and Managers at level 4. |
| They have been written by the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board (WAMITAB). |
You have to prove that you can do the things that is says in the standards. These are things that all good waste operatives should be doing at work. You will also have to prove that you can do other things specific to your type of site. |

Level 1 in Waste Operations There are 8 units at level 1 |
| There are 5* units that everyone must achieve, *3 of these can be used toward towards the level 2 award. In addition candidates must select 3 options to suit their type - e.g. landfill, collection etc. |
Level 2 in Waste Operations There are 10 units at level 1 |
| There are 6* units that everyone must achieve. In addition candidates must select 4 options to suit the type of site in which they work. |
