Apprenticeships - Animal Care

This framework is available as an Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship. On completion of your Initial Training Period, attendance at college will be on a day release basis. The qualification is gained through a combination work based assessments and practical training and exams completed at college. Recommended employment; Pet Shop, Boarding Kennels or Cattery, Grooming Parlour, Animal Sanctuary or Country Park.

You will Gain

  • NVQ in Animal Care level 2 or 3
  • Technical Certificate at Level 3
  • Key Skills at level 1 in Communications, Application of Number, Working with others and Improving own learning.
  • Emergency First Aid

The apprenticeship will focus on the skills required to be competent in handling and caring for small animals. The average duration of the apprenticeship is one year.

Special Features

The College offers first class practical facilities with a wide range of animals. Emergency First Aid certificate.

Apprenticeship Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. You will need to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm at interview and have acceptable references.
