Apprenticeships - Horticulture

This framework is available as an Apprenticeship choosing from one of three optional NVQ routes Landscape, Sports Turf, or Nursery. On completion of your Initial Training Period, attendance at college will be on a day release basis. The qualification is gained through a combination work based assessments and practical training and exams completed at college. Recommended employment (dependent on chosen option) Garden Centre, Commercial Grower, landscape Gardener, Golf Club, Football Club, Rugby Club.

You will Gain

  • NVQ in Amenity Horticulture level 2
  • Key Skills at level 1 in Communications, Application of Number, Working with others and Improving own learning.
  • Emergency First Aid

The apprenticeship involves everything from the management of sports turf, golf courses, parks and historic gardens to planning of domestic gardens and leisure facilities, focusing on the skills required for your chosen route. The average duration of the apprenticeship is two years.

Special Features

The College offers first class practical facilities. The apprenticeship includes two certificates of competence in areas suited to employer requirements, qualifications such as; Safe Manual Handling, Pesticide application, Safe use of Mowers, All Terrain Vehicle handling.

Apprenticeship Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. You will need to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm at interview and have acceptable references.
