Apprenticeships - Veterinary Nursing

This framework is available as an Apprenticeship and Advanced Apprenticeship, courses start in September and January. The qualification is gained through a combination work based assessments and practical training and exams completed at college. You will need to be employed by an approved VNAC Veterinary Practice. A Veterinary Nursing Approved Centre for the delivery of NVQ's agreed by RCVS. A list of the approved training practices can be found on the RCVS website.

You will Gain

  • NVQ in Veterinary Nursing at level 2 or 3
  • RCVS Technical Certificate at level 2 or 3
  • Key Skills at level 1 or 2
  • Emergency First Aid

The apprenticeship and advanced apprenticeship will focus on skills required to be competent when caring for animals receiving treatment within a veterinary practice. The average duration of the apprenticeship and advanced apprenticeship is two years.

Apprenticeship Entry Requirements

A minimum of five GCSE's, grades of 'C' or above in Maths, English and Science or have completed an Animal Nursing Assistant qualification. You will need to demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm at interview and have acceptable references. Advanced Apprentices must already hold the NVQ Level 2 in veterinary nursing.
