The apprenticeship team have worked with a large number of employers over the last year to promote opportunities available to students and other young people for apprenticeships across the construction and land based industries.
This culminated in a careers and apprenticeship event on 15th June 2016 where students were able to meet with employers who were offering a range of apprenticeship vacancies including brickwork, carpentry, horticulture, construction management, architectural design and civil engineering. Visitors to the event included students from Moulton College, who used the event to speak to potential employers and find out more about starting the next steps of their career. Following on from the event, learners are now attending work trials and interviews which will further enhance their interview and employability skills.
Many former Moulton College students attended the event to support their current employer and promote career options. This included Ben James, former full time Extended Diploma in Construction student who is now working as a trainee engineer for Agetur UK. Ben is currently completing his HND in Civil Engineering at Moulton College and is an excellent role model for other students wanting to follow a career in Civil Engineering.
Also in attendance were CITB who were able to showcase the new Go Construct website, which is an excellent resource developed by employers within the construction industry to showcase the huge range of career opportunities.
Students were also able to take part in a tool demonstration which was arranged by Travis Perkins which gave the opportunity to see and use trade tools from major manufacturers. Travis Perkins are working closely with the construction team to enhance the education and training opportunities available to students.
The college would like to thank all the employers who supported the event, including Agetur, Barretts of Aspley, CITB, Crest Nicholson, DJ Hutchins, Jeakins Weir, MK Surveys, Northamptonshire Highways, RG Carter, Sidey Associates, TCL and Travis Perkins.
