Practical Animal Care Skills is a practical based course designed for young people who wish to work, in the animal industry. It is a stepping stone towards a career in roles such as animal care assistants, zoo keepers, animal technicians or boarding establishment assistants.

You will develop practical skills that will support you securing work in the animal care industry or progressing on to further study.

The course will be delivered three days a week at our Moulton campus.

  • Monday 9am - 3pm
  • Tuesday 9am - 4.30pm
  • Friday 9am - 4.30pm

The timetable will include English and maths alongside practical lessons, tutorials and theory teaching.

Assessment will take the form of practical portfolios, professional discussions and verbal questioning.

After successful completion of the course you could progress on to the Level 2 Technical Diploma in Animal Care or the Level 3 Extended Certificate in Animal Management.

You will need a Level 1 qualification in a related subject or 3 GCSEs at grades 2-3. It is preferable to have English at Level 2 (GCSE) or above however this is not essential.
