Diploma Level 1 Carpentry and Joinery
Sam is 17 and is from Newport Pagnell. He came to Moulton College already having a keen interest in carpentry and joinery.
I was very pleased with my first year grade and I hope to eventually have a career as a bench joiner.
I have learnt a lot since starting at the college and have picked up many new skills, including safe use of woodworking machinery, that I feel has increased my chances of reaching my personal goals. I was also selected for the regional Skill Build competition which improved my interpretation and understanding of drawings and working to deadlines and time restraints.
I was more than happy with my first year grade of distinction and I also enjoyed the added qualifications such as BTEC that, although was quite challenging at times, was very interesting.
I am looking forward to the second year and I am hoping to achieve the same success as I have in the previous year.
My ultimate target is to find the right job to meet my ambitions and I am sure my time at Moulton College will contribute greatly to me achieving this.
His tutor, Bob Ainsworth, was impressed with Sam from day one and he is sure he has what it takes to make a very competent tradesman. He takes instructions very well and can support his peers with sensible advice. He has also shown good leadership skills on some projects and organises work well.
