Diploma Level 3 Furniture Design and Making
Charlie Edwards started in Furniture Studies at Moulton College in September 2008 on the two year City & Guilds Furniture course.
He said I chose Moulton because of its good reputation in my chosen subject area. The course is excellent overall. The best part of the course is the workshop time and the benefit of the tutors skills.
Having completed the course with Distinction, he enrolled on the third year to equip himself with further experience and enable him to apply for university. Charlie intends to complete a degree in Furniture Design & Craft at Bucks New University, reputedly the best course for aspiring furniture designer makers, in High Wycombe which was the centre of the chair making industry and has a long tradition of producing top craftspeople.
Charlie won a prize for Outstanding Achievement whilst at Moulton College and came first in the regional heats for cabinet making in Skillbuild, the national competition for the best in different trades. He was awarded a place in the Skillbuild Final held in Leeds, enjoyed the experience and made good contacts with other competitors who are likely to be the cream of the next generation of furniture makers.
His tutors in the Furniture department look forward to seeing more of his innovative and beautifully made contemporary furniture in the future.
