Diploma Level 2 Wood Machining
Having studied Resistant Materials at school, a visit to a careers event where he was hugely impressed with the quality of the furniture made by the Moulton students made up Daryl’s mind to enroll on the course himself.
“From early on I enjoyed going into the workshop and getting on with my work, setting my own targets and being independent,” he said. “I would recommend this course because the tutors are so approachable and you are given the experience to really develop your practical skills. The tutors have so many skills from their own furniture-making careers that they are realistic about what is possible, but still push us to achieve to the best of our abilities.”
Daryl added that the practical aspects of the course have helped him to fully prepare for work in industry and that activities such as the batch production projects really highlighted the importance of teamwork.
Having been proud to display his own creations over the past three years at the end-of-year exhibitions, Daryl will begin a degree in Furniture Design and Craft in September and hopes to make his mark in the industry for many years to come.
