"Before starting this course I was doing A levels but felt that I needed something more hands on and practical. I had worked at a yard for a couple of months and also used to ride and worked at a riding school when I was younger. I chose to go to Moulton College as I saw it had excellent facilities and would provide the practical aspects to education that I was looking for.
I attended an Open Day and had an opportunity to see the facilities for myself and speak to tutors, this gave me a good idea of what the course would be like. I was also made to feel very welcome.
Having completed the first part of the National Award course, I have gained many new skills in working with and dealing with horses. My confidence and riding has improved greatly and I have made many friends that I'm sure I will keep for life.
In the future, once I have completed the full National Diploma, I plan to go on to university. I would like to study animal biology and this course has given me the foundation to progress to degree level.
When I first started at Moulton College I did not know what I wanted to do in the future. I am now looking forward to going to university knowing that I definitely want to continue improving my theoretical knowledge, practical skills and I plan to work with animals."
