National Diploma in Sports Development
Claire Stancliffe from Wellingborough, who is currently completing her National Diploma in Sports Development and Fitness, has a profound hearing loss in the speech frequency range and relies on lip reading. However, this disability has not prevented her from achieving success both in the classroom and on the sports field.
Claire completed her National Award in Sports Development and Fitness last year with an overall Merit grade, and she is making excellent progress on the National Diploma stage of the qualification.
Claire's sporting prowess lies within the realm of football. Her recent performances at club level for the Vicarage Farm Ladies FC, have resulted in a call up for the England Women's Deaf Football Squad. Claire has her sights set on being selected for the Great Britain Deaf Ladies Football team who are going to be participating in the Deaf Olympics 2009.
