Diploma Level 2 Stonemasonry
After 10 amazing years working in education, I made the very difficult decision to leave a successful career in education and commit to re-training in a new career in Stonemasonry.
By a stroke of good fortune I met Emma the stonemasonry tutor and accepted the offer of a place on the full time course at Moulton College. Emma’s encouragement and confidence in my skills have helped me believe I can succeed as a stonemason.
The tuition and facilities at Moulton are excellent and the department has a good reputation in the Stonemasonry community. The course teaches a range of practical skills that will allow me and my fellow students to go on to work within the industry as banker masons and stone carvers. There are also lessons dedicated to technical drawing and learning about history and the theory behind stonemasonry.
I have recently completed some work experience at Exeter Cathedral and the opportunity has enabled me to gain more of an insight into restoration and conservation of heritage buildings. Both the course and the working at Exeter have given me a better idea of the areas I would like to focus on whilst completing my Lv3 next year and becoming self-employed in the future.
