Towards the end of last year the football Association held a series of events to celebrate its 150th anniversary. As a part of the celebrations they selected 150 volunteers from across the country to to be recognised for their services to community sport and football in particular. Their reward was a day out to Buckingham palace where the 150 volunteers had the opportunity to not only take in the historical surroundings but also meet the Duke of Cambridge himself as part of the thank you celebrations.
Jenna Kiely, a higher education student at Moulton college, currently in her second year of a Foundation degree in Sports Performance and Coaching was one the volunteers selcted by the FA in recognition of her work with the FA in Northamptonshire.
Jenna has worked tirelessly over the past 18 months with Kettering Futsal club dedicating her time and expertise to help provide opportunities for young and old alike to take part in exercise and improve their health through Futsal. Jenna has used the knowledge and understanding that she has gained through her time at Moulton College to help ensure that she has been able to provide entertaining and varied sessions. When questioned about her trip to the palace Jenna described her excitement, ‘To be recognised for the hard work and effort that goes into the training sessions makes me feel very proud. I am extremely humbled to be invited to Buckingham palace and I cannot wait to meet Prince William.’
Jenna (pic below) is also on the FA’s young leaders programme further recognising her ability as a coach and volunteer. Once Jenna has completed her final year of her foundation degree she is planning to take up a place on the BSc(Hons) top-up in Sports Performance and Coaching where she hopes to gain a deeper and more varied understanding of the coaching industry. Allowing her to not only continue with her excellent work at
Kettering Futsal club but develop her portfolio en-route to forging a career as a professional coach.
Here at Moulton College we would like to congratulate Jenna on her excellent work in the community and we are confident that she will be able to match her success as a coach and with success in her studies. We are extremely proud that Jenna has been invited to Buckingham palace and we hope she has an enjoyable time.
