Late June is a very special time for the College as we celebrate student success.
Moulton College certificates were presented to nearly 2,500 students along with a number of special awards at 6 ceremonies each concentrating on specific subject areas.
Moulton students not only enjoyed the event but were also able to show proud parents and friends what they had achieved along with some of the wonderful facilities that have been made available to them.
During the presentations the Principal, Steve Davies, said ’ I am honoured and privileged to have the opportunity to work with such a talented group of students and staff.
Moulton College is in the top 10% of all similar specialist Colleges with an overall success rate at 84% which is 3% above the national average.
However, results in National qualifications are only part of the outcome, and the real challenge is to ensure that our students are prepared for the world of work and both further and higher education’.
During this academic year, the College enrolled 2,829 full-time and 1,880 part-time students as well as 722 Apprentices.
If you add 451 secondary school pupils and 2,220 primary school children who have attended courses at College Centres – you get some idea of the volume of work with which the College now engage.
To deliver this range of services, Moulton employs around 500 staff and has a turnover of circa £28million - making it the largest employer in the Daventry District.
The College makes a significant contribution to the local economy in meeting the needs of employers and is working closely with the Local Enterprises Partnerships of Northamptonshire (NEP) and the South East Midlands (SEMLEP).
In September 2013, construction of the new residential accommodation buildings at Holcot commenced and these will be completed by the end of August 2014. This £8.2 million investment will provide 152 en-suite bedrooms for 162 over-18 year old students, studying further and higher education at the College.
The College is working in partnership with Northampton Borough Council, Northampton Town Football Club and the Rugby and Northampton Athletics Club to build a multi-million pound Athletics Track and associated facilities which are due to open in spring 2015.
Moulton College is proud to be the lead sponsor of the £10.5m University Technical College in Daventry which successfully opened its doors in January to nearly one hundred 14 year olds, specialising in Environmental Sustainability, Sustainable Construction, and New Technologies in Engineering.
The College continues to make a significant investment in technology seeing ten teaching rooms being upgraded with the latest 65 inch touch technology display screens that contain revolutionary new learning technology, allowing multiple users at any one time and opening up many interactive opportunities for teachers to set exciting tasks for the students, to complete on tablets and smart devices.
To reduce travel for some our students, Vocational Skills Academies have been established at Silverstone, Daventry and Higham Ferrers. These continue to grow and diversify, accommodating larger numbers of local students, and increase the range of subjects on offer.
It is been another exceptional year for everyone involved with the College and we are all looking forward to ‘doing it all again’ next year.
