Sports Science students at Moulton College are fortunate enough to not only get an education using outstanding academic and sporting facilities, but also get to take part in a number of activities which improve their experience whilst at the college. These are known as enrichment activities and are not only informative and fun but also a welcome break from full-time study.
A permanent fixture of enrichment for Sport Science students is college sport where they are fortunate enough to get 4 hours on a Wednesday afternoon to take part in the sport of their choice, which could be anything from Flowrider to bicycle polo.
This week has seen David Sutton, the head Strength and Conditioning Coach for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, visit the college to talk to Sports Science students about his career and how to make the most of opportunities available to them. As a large number of Sports Science students have ambitions of being a strength and conditioning coach, this talk was particularly valuable, especially when they realised that David used to be the Strength and Conditioning Coach here at Moulton College.
Next week sees the annual sports day where all sports students will be heading off to the indoor track at Lee Valley Athletics Stadium. Sports Science students are extremely grateful for the opportunity to use an international standard sports facility to test out their speed, strength or jumping skills.
Excitement levels are growing as trophies are polished, t-shirts are delivered and teams are selected ready for students to board the army of coaches on Wednesday morning and claim bragging rights over the other sports groups within the college. Sports Science groups have managed to win previous women’s events and finish in the top 3 in the male events, could this be the year where both male and female teams come out on top?.....
