Sport Development Coaching and Fitness student Harry Baker has most recently been selected to play for the England Cerebral Palsy Senior squad for the 2014/2015 season. Harry hopes to feature in the England team, playing in the World Championships in early June 2015. The tournament is being held in England at St George’s Park from the 13th June to the 28th of June 2015.
Harry has a strict training regime which he manages alongside his busy college schedule. The college are helping to support Harry with his Strength and Conditioning and have arranged study days around his commitments to ensure his attendance is not affected by the monthly England Training camps.
Harry talks of his success at the European Championships in Portugal where the team finished joint 5th overall. He is excited about his next steps but knows he will need to work hard to maintain a position in the starting 7 to ensure he is selected for each training camp as they begin the build-up for the world championships.
Harry states “The main goal for me is to qualify and get selected for the Great Britain squad that will go and compete in the Rio 2016 Paralympics. I hope to be a part of the squad for many years to come”.
All the staff at Moulton College wishes Harry the best of luck in the forthcoming games and in his quest to be selected for Rio 2016.
