On Friday 18th March Moulton College hosted a cross-college Sport Relief mile event attended by over 500 participants who walked, jogged or ran to fundraise for Sport Relief. The event was supported by Northampton Saints and Northampton Town F.C. who donated a range of awards including a signed shirt, signed balls and match day tickets.
This event was complimented by our Sport Department, where over 200 sports students and 20 members of staff took part in a series of round robin ‘Beat the staff’ tournaments. Activities included basketball, hockey, football, netball, rugby and volleyball, with teams made up from each course competing against each other and a staff team.
All were competing to be crowned the Sport Relief champions amongst other awards including best dressed team, won by the second year sport development students who designed their own t-shirts. A special mention is due to the first year sport development students who raised the most money.
Craig McIlwain, Programme Leader for Sports Studies said “Sport Relief is a fantastic charity that everyone can relate to, as it helps so many disadvantaged people in this country and abroad. It was great to see students and staff working together for a good cause, whilst having some fun along the way”.
For both fundraising events a total of £448.87 was raised which was a great effort by all those concerned.
