Over the summer, Moulton College was lucky to host four secondary school students who had been awarded Nuffield Research Placement scholarships to work alongside researchers. One of these students was Beth Oketch from Sir Christopher Hatton School who worked alongside Dr Wanda McCormick to investigate rabbit diets. During her time at the College, Beth worked alongside the technicians on the Animal Welfare Centre and investigated how a new style of diet affected the way that rabbits eat their food.
Dr Wanda McCormick said: “It was a brilliant experience to have a student on this scheme working on one of my projects. Beth was a huge help and produced some excellent data which will add to our growing work with local animal feed company Dodson & Horrell Ltd.”
Beth couldnt be happier with the experience, saying "My experience at Moulton College while doing my Nuffield Placement was really interesting thanks to Dr McCormick. It was my first time being close with rabbits for a long period of time and I really enjoyed it. The experience gave me something interesting to talk about in my personal statement."
The College were delighted to hear that Beth has been given a CREST award in recognition of her work this summer.
