Three Moulton College Basketball Academy students represented the East Midland Regional Basketball team at the Under 17 Inter-Regional Development Tournament held at the National Performance Centre in Manchester.
The Under 17 girls team were represented by duo Paige Vyse and Steph Hale securing a 6th place finish. Whilst guard Hayden Alcindor steered the boys to a 7th place finish defeating a strong South East team 52-39 in their final game.
The Regional Development Tournament is a part of the Basketball England’s Performance Pathway consisting of 10 regions. The tournament takes part over the course of one weekend, this sees each region compete against each other alongside providing the opportunity for players to be selected for England Development squads.
Basketball Academy Course Manager Rob Crump commented “It is very pleasing to see many of our new students compete at the Inter-Regional Development Tournament. It provides them with an excellent opportunity to compete with the best players from each region and with an opportunity excel within the performance pathway”.
The Basketball Academy faces a busy schedule ahead, with the men starting their campaign away in the AoC Premier Cup against College of West Anglia. Whilst the women’s season commences with a home fixture against Gateway.
