Our Rugby Graduates Are Turning Pro

Moulton College has a history of nurturing the talent of pro rugby players and it has been an exciting time for our rugby graduates, with numerous students moving one step closer to turning pro.

 

Moulton College 2018/19 Rugby Academy

Cam Sharpe, Archie Strath, Ed Prowse and Louis Beer all signed contracts with Coventry RFC and their preseason training is well underway! All of the players will combine their playing and training commitments with coaching as part of the club’s community work. Director of Rugby, Rowland Winter, says that a closer relationship between the club and city can only be good.

“We’re committed to bringing through the best youngsters to represent the city in our first team, and all of these players have the potential to be successful in their careers,” Rowland Winter, Director of Rugby, Coventry RFC.

Pre-season rugby training is an opportunity for athlete’s to re-engage and activate their muscles following the off-season. Comprising of a number of different sessions, the training helps to build athletes body strength and transition them into more intense training which takes place during competitive play.

Outgoing Moulton College captain Charles Rylands is progressing into the Cardiff Metropolitan University (Cardiff Met RFC) set-up next year. Cardiff Met RFC is rapidly becoming a productive pathway for pro rugby players with the likes of Mike Brown and Alex Dombrandt as Alumni.

Rugby graduate Tommy Freeman, has signed a contract with the Official Northampton Saints. Tommy was picked up by the Saints U18s in January and was soon after offered a professional contract with the club. During his time at Moulton, he has thrown himself into the sport, and made the most of all the opportunities at the college to improve his technique.
