Moulton College student Tony Robinson (BSc Hons Sports Therapy) has been re-selected for the Great Britain 30-34 year old age group Sprint Triathlon squad for this summer’s European Championships. Tony gained automatic qualification for the Championship due to his 4th place finish in last year’s competition.
Tony is currently completing his winter training programme schedule that requires him to complete 6000m swimming, 100km cycling and 30miles running each week, to ensure he reaches his physical peak in time for the European Championships to be held in Turkey on June 15th which will see him compete over a 750m Swim, 20km bike and 5km run. Tony has stated “It’s going to be a really hard season, having returned to my studies in order to complete my BSc, so finding the balance between training and studying is key for me.” In addition to the 4th place at the European Championships last year Tony’s other stand out performances in 2012 included 2nd in the Norwich Sprint Triathlon, 2nd in the Clumber Park Sprint Duathlon, and 1st Waveney Sprint Triathlon 2012.
Tony’s ambitions this year do not stop at targeting success in the 2013 European Championship and gaining his full degree, as he is determined to improve on last year’s 4th place finish in order to put him in the best possible shape to qualify for the World Championship in September 2013, which will be held across Hyde Park and follow the same route as that successfully completed by Alastair and Jonny Brownlee during the London 2012 Olympics.
Having given up work in order to resume his studies Tony is also looking for any interested parties who may wish to sponsor and support him during his quest to beat Europe’s elite in 2013.
