We are looking to grow our busy Finance Team by appointing a Head of Financial Operations. This is a new and senior role, for which we require a qualified accountant, preferably with relevant sector experience. The successful candidate will take on a range of staff and financial management responsibilities, and will be joining during an exciting period of growth for the College
Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the successful applicant will have day-to-day responsibility for all the financial operations of the college, including working closely with budget holders to set the annual budget and review variances. They will oversee the processing of financial transactions, including the monitoring of AR and student ledger debts, and the authorisation and recording of supplier purchases. In addition, they will be responsible for reviewing and improving efficiency in the financial processes and procedures.

As Head of Financial Operations you will play a key part in delivering the strategy, using your experience, preferably in the Further Education or Skills/Training sector, alongside your strong business acumen, and a ‘can do, will do’ attitude to developing financial resilience and ensuring excellent value for money. Experience of managing a successful Finance team is essential to the success of this role.
Successful candidates will
- Be educated to degree level or equivalent
- Have a recognised accountancy qualification
- Have experience of managing finance staff
- Have experience of working cross-functionally with non-finance staff (Within Further or Higher Education is desirable but not essential)
- Previous experience of monthly and year end accounts preparation and reporting
- High-level experience of working with Microsoft Office
