If you are interested in design, crafts and flowers then our Level 1 Diploma in Floristry will provide you with the skills and theoretical understanding to take your passion to the next level of learning and start your future career within this exciting industry.

Our Floristry students have access to an exciting range of specialist resources at the College. Our Floristry workshops are fitted with industry-standard cold storage, display areas and photography areas. You will take advantage of our ornamental grounds containing a wide range of flora.

Guided by our specialist staff and expert guest lecturers you’ll learn fundamental skills to create artistic displays and develop a detailed understanding of the industry. As part of your course you will have the opportunity to take part in industry competitions where you will learn and develop practical skills that will be vital for your future in floristry.

Guided by our expert lecturers you will learn the basics of floral design and arrangements. Through theoretical and practical learning you will identify common pests and diseases, and correctly recognise a wide range of flowers and create beautiful floral designs.

This is a full time course taking place on three full days per week. There will be a mix of practical and theoretical work which are split into two hour lessons. You will have a half an hour break and hour lunch. An example timetable can be viewed here.

Vocational and professional qualifications are taught through college based theory and practical lessons with further learning and understanding developed via directed self-study. Assessment consists of internally set coursework and assignments, although some professional and vocational qualifications may require the achievement of externally set assessments.

After achieving Level 1, you could progress to Level 2 studies or an apprenticeship. Alternatively, you could go on to be a floristry assistant or floristry shop worker.

GCSEs at grade 1-2 (E-G) or equivalent or an Entry Level 3 Diploma in a related subject.
