You will need to come to College equipped with stationery, steel toe capped boots and a hi-vis vest or jacket.

You can find a full equipment list here.

Your week will consist of three to four full days at College covering practical, theory and research on given topics.

Students will need to complete work outside of given College days to complete assignments and work experience.

Similar to A-Levels, the grade you gain from a T-Level is based on your work in school. This makes up 80% of the T-Level and comprises a core component and an occupational specialism.

You get a grade of Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Distinction* overall. You get separate grades in each component. The 20% is covered by extended industry placement.

Year 1:

  • Core Assessment: Externally Set Test – Paper 1 and Paper 2 are both graded A*-E.
  • Employer Set Project: Externally assessed project work is graded A*-E.
  • Industry Placement: Evidence log to show completion of hours required and evidence of development of technical skills and application of knowledge in a workplace environment.

Year 2:

  • Synoptic assessment to judge how well the competence requirements have been met. Graded: Distinction, Merit or Pass.
  • Industry Placement: Evidence log to show completion of hours required and evidence of development of technical skills and application of knowledge in a workplace environment.

This course can lead to degree apprenticeships or employment with major construction-engineering companies.

You could also go onto university to study from a wide range of construction and built environment disciplines.

The overall qualification is graded on the scale of Unclassified, Pass, Merit, Distinction and Distinction*. UCAS points are allocated to overall T Level grades with D* achieving 168 points which is the same as three A* grades at A Level.

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grades 4 - 9 (A - C) to enrol onto this course, including English, maths and a science.
