Football Academy

As a talented footballer you will have the chance to study, train and play in an environment that’s as close as it gets to a professional club. Moulton has an outstanding track record of developing players as well as preparing them for a career beyond their sport. Our successful academy partnership with AFC Rushden & Diamonds® is built on the following core principles (as chosen by the players themselves); Attitude, Focus, Commitment, Respect and Desire.

We’ll help you balance your studies and your football commitments. You’ll benefit from our extensive link with AFC Rushden and Diamonds® (amongst others), allowing you to combine playing for Moulton and the club itself. Our links with the national and local county FA will provide opportunities to obtain nationally recognised coaching qualifications, gain invaluable work experience and build links for your future career.

You will learn from some of the best AFC Rushden & Diamond® coaches at Moulton College. We will support you to achieve excellence in your academic studies and your football. All coaches are UEFA Licensed coaches who have extensive experience in academy youth football, non-league men’s football and the professional women’s game. With both academic and practical experiences, our coaches will seek to develop every part of your game in accordance with the FA’s development model and the England DNA.

We design your timetable with you in mind, meaning you'll get the best from your qualification and your training. As well as weekly sessions from dedicated coaches, you’ll have opportunities to compete at the correct level of college sport. The National Youth Alliance U19 league is your chance to compete against some of the UK’s top teams, with players also having the chance to compete on a national scale in both the ESFA and the ECFA national championships as part of our Scholarship Programme and in association representing AFC Rushden & Diamonds® in the FA Youth Cup, Northants FA Under 18 David Joyce Cup and local midweek and floodlit Northants Senior Youth League.

The U19 football scholarship programme at Moulton College reflects the professional standard evident within our fantastic facilities. Currently used professionally by Northampton Town 1st Team and U18’s, you’ll have the chance to improve all aspects of your game on-site with access to our highly maintained grass pitches or our 3G AstroTurf; providing the perfect surface to play football. You’ll also benefit from access to our performance services. Strength and conditioning coaches, physiotherapists, sports massage students through to lifestyle management and performance analysis will keep you performing at your peak. Within the scholarship programme, we play according to our football philosophy, guiding players through relevant language and principles that underpin their performance. We want to:

  • Play attacking and creative football.
  • Display a positive attitude, showing respect and sportsmanship for all.
  • Win the game, but not at the expense of the above.

In order for you to be selected into the Football Academy, you must first have applied or have been accepted onto a course at Moulton College. Then you will be expected to attend one of our trial days which are usually scheduled in the May Half-term and/or in one of the summer months.

If you are successful in receiving an offer for the Football Academy you will need to pay a £140 kit fee. This will provide you with a range of clothing which you will need to wear to all training sessions and match days. All Football Academy students must purchase this prior to starting college. Please click here to access Macron Store to purchase your required bundle, plus any additional items which you may want to purchase. All other aspects of the Football Academy, including transport and competition fees are paid for by the college.
