As a talented or aspiring Rugby player, you have the chance to study, train and play in an environment that’s as close as it gets to a professional club. Moulton has an outstanding track record of developing players as well as preparing them for a career beyond their sport. There is the expectation of players to attend all training sessions in academy training kit, further enhancing the experience of a professional experience and benchmark.
Our academy is built upon three core principles (as chosen by the players themselves); Commitment, Determination and Respect.
We’ll help you balance your studies and your rugby commitments. You’ll benefit from our extensive links with professional and national league clubs such as Northampton Saints RFC and Coventry RFC. Our links with the national and local counties will provide opportunities to obtain nationally recognised coaching and/ or officiating qualifications, gain invaluable work experience and build links for your future career.
You’ll learn from some of the best coaches at Moulton College. We will support you to achieve excellence in your academic studies and your rugby. All coaches you will encounter are expert coaches and are qualified up to level 4 with a vast range of experience within elite academies and professional teams. With both academic and practical experiences, our coaches will seek to develop every part of your game in accordance with our key focuses on player development within both performance and aspirational pathways. The ethos of our Rugby Academy is focused on building a strong defensive unit, while developing a free-flowing and creative attacking team where all players develop independent decision making skills and increase the potential in what they can achieve.
We design your timetable with you in mind, meaning you'll get the best from your qualification and your training. As well as weekly sessions from dedicated coaches, you’ll have opportunities to compete at the correct level of college sport. The Association of Colleges Sport (AoC) leagues and cups are your chance to compete against some of the UK’s top teams, with players also having the chance to compete on a national level in the National Cup.
In order for you to be selected into the Rugby Academy, you must first have applied or have been accepted onto a course at Moulton College. Then you will be expected to attend one of our trial days which are usually scheduled in the May Half-term and/or in one of the summer months.
If you are successful in receiving an offer for the Rugby Academy you will need to pay a £140 kit fee.
