Moulton College Celebrates Contribution of Governors

Tuesday 29 July 2025

Moulton College recently thanked four members of its Governance Committee for their invaluable contribution to the College.

Collectively Ashley Clarkson, Lucille Knapp, Ivy Knight and George Crick have over 20 years experience on the Corporation Board and will be missed by everyone in the team.

Ashley Clarkson has been a College Governor for nine years. During this time he has chaired the Audit Committee and the Finance and Resources Committee. As a qualified accountant his support and scrutiny of the College finances has been invaluable.

Lucille Knapp has been a College Governor for eight years, most recently as Chair of the Audit Committee. Lucille’s approach to business, attention to detail and tenacious questioning have strengthened the board’s approach over the years. Alongside this practical approach, her kind, empathetic support for colleagues; governors, students and the executive team, has provided a unique approach that will be missed.

Ivy Knight joined the board as an FE Student Governor in 2021, growing in confidence throughout her time on the Board. Her considerable impact was recently recognised at the Unloc National Student Governor Awards and she will leave a lasting legacy in many areas, including support for the LGBTQ+ community, improvements in recycling and sustainability and most notably the practical application of the disability policy and significant improvement to accessibility around the college.

George Crick joined the board in 2024 as the HE Student Governor. George completes his degree course at the College this year, having first joined as an FE student over five years ago. George is a passionate advocate for the College and has ensured that the student perspective is considered within all decisions made by the Board.

David McVean, Chair of Governors said: "We would like to thank Ashley, Lucille, Ivy and George for their hard work, commitment and support of Moulton College during their time on the Corporation Board. They have all played a considerable part in the success of the College over the last few years.

David added: "We are now looking to recruit new members to our Corporation Board, to fulfil our current upcoming skills gaps. Ideally you will have skills and knowledge in the land-based sector, education, human resources or organisational development and full training will be provided."

We ask you to bring a passion for further education, a curious mind and a desire to contribute to the effective delivery of our new strategic plan by 2030.

David McVean, Chair of Governors, Moulton College
