College donations to help in fight against COVID-19

Wednesday 15 April 2020

Moulton College has been doing its bit in the fight against COVID-19, by delivering essential items to support frontline staff – in hospitals, and the community. The Animal Welfare department has donated PPE including gloves and sanitiser to Marie Curie, a charity providing care and support for those living with a terminal illness, and their families. This equipment will be used within the local community, as carers and nurses look after patients within their homes.

Donations of protective goggles and gloves have also been made from the construction department to Berrywood Hospital, managed by Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Matt Cappell, Head of Construction said: “We’re living in challenging times, and this is the least we could do to help the NHS to continue their amazing work. It’s a drop in the ocean really, but hopefully it will help as we battle against this awful virus.”

Construction lecturer, Jon Brawn is also volunteering with Blood Bikes - an out of hour’s service that ensures hospitals are provided with urgent provisions including platelets, serums and other essentials. With the outbreak of COVID-19, this service is now running 24/7, with Jon dedicating his time to helping the cause.

“I am very proud to volunteer as part of the Blood Bike team all year round supporting the wonderful NHS. During this current time all the Blood Bike groups nationwide are honoured to cover 24/7 to do what we can to help.”

Stay safe.
