On 27th October 2019, I was part of a small group of floristry students who attend the BFA FleurEx 2019. As well as being one of the 5 students who entered the student competition, to make a proms evening party bracelet. This was an inspirational day for me as I was able to learn so much and take away lots of new information. My main highlight of the day was when 2 of my fellow classmates won the competition taking home first and second place, this felt like we were all winners. I was lucky enough to meet Su Whale the author of a book that I use a lot within the college course, this was a great experience as I was able to tell her how grateful I am for her book and how useful it has been to me. I also took part in a flower battle; this was to create a hand tied in five minutes, this was a lot of fun as we were able to put into quick practices what we had learnt at college. There’s just too much I could talk about which makes this a day in my college life that I never want to forget. Floristry at Moulton has been one of the best choices I’ve made in my life. From starting the level1 course back in 2017 to currently taking my level 3; I’ve learnt so much such as, the botanical names of flowers and foliage’s e.g. Zantedeschia (Calla lily), to the different types of design styles and arrangements. Studying floristry at Moulton has opened so many opportunities for me, for when I’ve completed the course. For me this has been a rewarding course as it has provided me with new skills for my future.
