Moulton College celebrates outstanding exam pass rate

Friday 19 March 2021

Staff and students at Moulton College are celebrating a 99.8% pass rate for vocational exams which were sat in January.

A total of 370 students sat 488 papers in Animal Welfare, Business, Land-based subjects and Sport in January and 67% achieved a merit or distinction grade.

John O’Shea, Vice Principal, Curriculum said:

“When the lockdown was announced in January, we had to decide whether to proceed with the exams which were scheduled to take place during the first week of the Spring Term. We wanted our students to have the opportunity to prove what they had already learnt during the Autumn term and so we went ahead with the examinations, whilst observing strict safety measures.

These amazing results are testament to the hard work and resilience shown by all our students and staff through this difficult time and we couldn’t be prouder of these results.”

The College is also celebrating some excellent results for students who resat their GCSE English and maths exams in November. All students who do not achieve a grade 4 (C) in their GCSE English or maths whilst at school study these subjects alongside their main qualification at College. Moulton College students achieved a 99% pass rate in GCSE English and 100% pass rate in GCSE maths with 52% and 23% of students achieving higher grades.

“We are committed to ensuring that all of our students achieve their full potential in a safe and supportive environment at Moulton. These grades will be invaluable in determining the teacher assessed grades as students complete their courses this summer,” added John.
