Our Level 1 Diploma in Plumbing is designed to kick start your learning in this sector using practical and theoretical lessons.

Our Plumbing students have access to an exciting range of specialist resources at the College. You will use our unique workshop equipped with state-of-the-art tools and facilities to develop a range of skills.

As part of your course you will have the opportunity to undertake commercial experience and apprenticeships in Plumbing and Heating, where you will learn and develop practical skills that will be vital for your future.

Guided by our expert lecturers you will gain a firm grasp of complex hot and cold water piping systems, as well as the correct plumbing process.

Through practical and theoretical learning you will develop skills in the health and safety of plumbing, as well as sanitation and general working skills. You will cover modules including:

Training book to develop basic skills working with Copper, Steel and Plastic

Safe Working Practices

Site Preparation

Structure of the Construction Industry

Environmental and Sustainable Measures

Copper Pipework

Low Carbon Steel Pipework

Plastic Pressure Pipework

Above Ground Drainage

Plumbing Science

Installation Repair and Maintenance

Hi-Vis and Work Safety Boots are required to undertake this course. You can find a full equipment list here.

This is a full time course taking place on three full days per week.

There will be a mix of practical and theoretical work which are split into two hour lessons. You will have regular breaks including a lunch break.

Vocational and professional qualifications are taught through college based theory and practical lessons with further learning and understanding developed via directed self-study.

Assessment consists of internally set coursework and assignments, although some professional and vocational qualifications may require the achievement of externally set assessments.

After achieving Level 1, you can progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Studies full time, apprenticeships or work in the sector as a trainee plumber.

4 GCSEs at Grade 2 including English and maths.
